Do you wanna be me?
In collaboration with Christina Yglesias and Pawan Jiranothai
Bangkok Art and Culture Centre
Do you wanna be me? is a Performance Video art which explores the multiple facets of identity in LGBTQ+ and Cosplay subculture. This piece serves as a dynamic platform for an individual to engage in a profound dialogue with their diverse alter-egos, thereby delving into the interplay of identity within the context of these dynamic subcultures.
At its core, this 2 channel video installation becomes a portal into a non-judgemental world as Some people develop alter egos as a form of coping mechanism, allowing them to adopt a different identity to deal with specific situations or challenges.
For others, an alter ego might represent an aspirational version of themselves, breaking free from societal norms, embodying qualities they admire or wish to emulate. While a "safe space" within a subculture community are essential for fostering a sense of belonging, camaraderie. But for an unprecedented future that lies ahead of Thais sub-culture.
