Diaspora

Diaspora is a series of photographs that traces the intricate relationship between human daily behaviour and its consequences on both lives and environment. Situated in the peri-urban outskirts of Bangkok, the work is grounded in the landscapes of Nakhon Pathom's waste disposal site, where Bangkok's waste is displaced and ignored, far from the city that produced it.
The series navigates through the layers of our most fundamental activities, bringing their far-reaching consequences into focus. Each photograph becomes a visual record of cause and effect, surfacing what is usually buried beneath the rhythms of daily life, the consequences we cannot see because we have never stood far enough away to look.
The work borrows its aesthetic from the land itself. What was discarded has since become a habitat. Egrets, stray dogs, and waste collectors who arrive on schedule to recover what value remains from the ruins, each find their place within the site. A new cycle has formed, closer to our own lives than we might expect.
